PIED is a non-profit Youth-led local Non-governmental Organization with its headquarters in Nairobi. PIED shapes and fosters a better world by empowering and developing the community in response to global development challenges. PIED focuses on five thematic areas namely:
Successful take-off of PIED vision became ripe through persistence and endurance notwithstanding the overwhelming challenges. Driven by socio-economics and political challenges in Kenya, I got motivated to start an NGO as an entity with like-minded individuals to provide strategic interventions to the existing and immerging issues, including but not limited to youth unemployment, abject poverty and negative ethnicity. Thanks to God who connected me with the right friends that shared my passion to transform lives to better livelihoods by leveraging the values, skills, and capabilities of PIED, delivering measurable and quantifiable results and being accountable to and collaborating with our beneficiaries, funding entities, and partners in the advancement of our vision. As a formidable team, we later joined force on 20th October 2010 to launch PIED operations. The Organization got officially registered on 31st March 2011as a local NGO by the Government of Kenya. Currently, PIED is run by a Board of 11 directors and a secretariat of 9 volunteer staff members. Although our beginning is small, coupled with overwhelming challenges, including the need for major funding towards programming, capacity building of the staff and Institutional systems strengthening, we have since been driven by passion to think and act big to reach our ultimate goal.
